SEPTA is facing a funding crisis. Learn how this will impact Delaware County and how you can help.

What is happening?

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) faced a $213 million budget deficit in Fiscal Year 2026. On September 8th, SEPTA received approval to use its long-term capital funds for daily operations.

As a result, full service has been restored on September 14th. SEPTA riders will experience the same service level as before the cuts were announced. However, the proposed fare increase of 21.5% is now in place.

Please note this is a temporary “band-aid” fix. There still is a long-term need for a funding solution, as SEPTA will encounter the budget deficit again in 2 years. For more information, please see SEPTA’s Press Release or visit septa.org.
