Delaware County to Hold Meet Your Judges Day on Friday, October 2 in Media   

Media, PA — Delaware County is hosting Meet Your Judges Day on Friday, October 2 for local students to learn about the legal system. The event, which will be held at the Delaware County Courthouse in Media starting at 10 AM, is expected to see nearly 100 students from Interboro, Marple Newtown, Ridley, and Sun Valley High Schools.

The event will give Delaware County youth the chance to learn about the federal, state, and county court systems and what types of cases each of them handle. Attendees will also be familiarized with the rule of law, the importance of judicial independence, and how Delaware County Court of Common Pleas (trial) judges consider these matters on a daily basis.

The program will include two mock hearings, one in criminal court focusing on suppression of evidence, and one in family court regarding custody proceedings. Participants will then meet the judges, lawyers, and others presenting the program, and have an opportunity to pose questions and improve their working knowledge of the legal system.
