Essential Duties

Under supervision of Director and Work Supervision of the Shift Supervisor:

• Operates assigned police dispatch console to receive 911 emergency calls, data from various call takers; utilizes appropriate cad functions to dispatch appropriate available police units to scene to investigate.
• Must maintain awareness at all times of available units/vehicles in respective areas (to include knowing what personnel & vejoc;es are om/out of service).
• Must be able to prioritize dispatchers and monitor various in-process situations at the same time.
• In certain situations, may need to speak directly to the caller and/or keep caller on the phone until dispatched units arrive at the scene.
• May need to maintain on-going contact via radio with responding unit/units at the scene to receive/relay information, dispatch additional units for backup and/or companies, railroads, SPCA, etc., if situation warrants.
• In cases of severe crimes may need to communicate general radio messages (GRM) and fugitive search plans to include description of clothing, vehicles, etc.
