Delaware County Vice Chair Elaine Paul Schaefer was honored to join District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Sheriff Jerry Sanders, and many others from the County team for the 21st Annual Delco Run for Heroes 5K walk/run on October 9 in Springfield.

The 5K walk/run is the largest fundraiser for the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, which was established in 1977 by County Council to provide education scholarships for the children of police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel who were killed in the line of duty. Since the run was founded in 2000, over $683,000 has been raised.

Council commends the members of the Run for Heroes Committee and organizers and the hundreds of people who participated, cheered on the runners, or sponsored the run.
